Yesterday Akiva went in for follow up blood testing. He has been off his liver medication for over a month, as a trial to see how he did without it. He had a full chem panel and a CBC with diff. Everything was within the normal range, so he does not need his extra liver support supplement anymore. He is still on his joint supplement, that appears to be helping him so we will continue with it.
Akiva got bit by 2 ticks last week. I sent both ticks off to the University of Connecticut for testing for lye disease and anaplasmosis. I should get the results within the next day or two. If they are positive for either disease, then I will have to treat him with antibiotics. If not, then we can avoid giving him unnecessary antibiotics.
